Doorstop – Oak & Brass
A Solid Oak Door Stop Worth Looking At
Most door stops are an afterthought — a lump of plastic or a sandbag pushed out of sight. This solid oak door stop is meant to be seen. Cut from a single block of green oak, shaped with a handle and inlaid with brass bow ties across its natural split, it does an honest job and looks good doing it.
Green Oak & Its Split
Green oak is worked while the timber is still fresh, and as it dries it moves and opens in its own way. Every piece splits differently, so no two are ever the same — the grain, the colour and the line of the split all belong to this one block of wood. It’s character, not a flaw, and it’s the reason each one is genuinely unique.
Brass Bow Ties
Set across the split are solid brass bow ties — a traditional joinery detail used for centuries to hold a crack steady and stop it travelling. They’re inlaid flush into the surface, so they sit level with the oak and catch the light as you pass. Practical first, beautiful second.
A Solid Oak Door Stop That Earns Its Keep
There’s real weight in a single block of oak, which is exactly what the job needs. It holds a heavy door open without sliding, and the shaped handle on top means you can pick it up and move it with one hand. No bending, no scuffed skirting boards, no fuss.
